It was slightly better than Evan Williams but not by much. The bottle, you guys. I want to give it as a present, it's so cute.
Wilson: This sounds delicious! Similar to bourbon, whiskey is my go-to for eggnog. McIntosh: Whiskey is not my favorite, and I don't think that the flavors are sweet enough for me; therefore, I wouldn't use a rye in my eggnog. However, I think it depends on who you are, and how much you love whiskey. I like apples, and I like people named Jack, so it's no surprise that I like Applejack.
That's how it works, right? It paired pretty nicely with eggnog. It probably would be better as a fall drink, though. A nice mulled cider, perhaps? Wilson: I'm intrigued — but I'm not sure how well the apple flavor works with eggnog. McIntosh: Applejack is interesting. With the right amount — and a little can go a long way — I think it could be good.
Probably wouldn't be my favorite, probably wouldn't be my worst, it would probably be right in the middle. Crowd-pleaser: My crowd thought this one was just not good. I think I spiked it a little too much. McIntosh: I think if you're a bourbon drinker, and you put a little on the bottom of your cup and you add in warm eggnog to really get it moving and fresh, nutmeg on the top, it could be really good.
But if you don't love bourbon, this probably wouldn't be your favorite choice. I was really hoping this one would be the greatest, if only because I have all of this apple pie moonshine and no use for it. But the results were similar to that of the Applejack. It would make a better fall drink. I guess I'll just have to keep it around until next year.
This was definitely seasonal I didn't like it, and my guests thought it was just OK. Wilson: This combo reminds me of the one with Applejack. I love apple pie and apple pie-flavored treats.
But I'm not sure how the flavor would work with the creamy texture of the eggnog. I might add some cinnamon to give it more spice and complement the apple flavor a bit. The latter is surprisingly sweet and delicious, and much less rich and thick. Eggnog is intensely filling and therefore probably best served at parties with munchies rather than along with meals. With this recipe, the non-alcoholic version is the same as the regular, except you leave out the alcohols. You can add a few drops of rum extract if you want that taste.
This eggnog recipe makes 6 servings, because usually people make eggnog in bulk. It should last for days. I buy Al Fresco eggs from Vitalfarms. That said, I do like to ask guests if they have a problem with raw eggs before serving it that way. For example, pregnant women are often advised to avoid raw eggs.
Some people with certain illnesses may also not be able to risk consuming raw eggs, since a bout of food poisoning would be much harder on them than on a person average health. That is absolutely just a personal preference. Skip to main content Skip to primary sidebar Skip to footer Jump to Recipe. Continue to Content.
