Can you open sibelius files in musescore

Publishers should be able to import your xml file and edit it ok. Update on this thread. I exported a score using File - export and saved it in XML. My editor has just told me she couldn't open it in sibelius. The file is definitely XML. I have just seen i have 3 choices when saving I think i used the normal.

Can i just update without having to upgrade and then have lots of old versions on my pc?

She has Sibelius 6. Would you please give me some more detail about what you mean by renaming the files? Which step does the renaming take place?
