Hamill introduced the world to the complex character in the saga's debut created by George Lucas which turned the former soap opera actor into a superstar. The veteran actor tells EW why he is saying goodbye to the character but remains excited about the future of the franchise. Those films gave me far more than I ever expected when we started out so it's never even occurred to me. My farewell was in Episode IX and it was bittersweet.
I love all those people and I certainly have affection for George and the character he created. I'm full of gratitude for what it has given me and my career but I don't want to be greedy. There are still so many more stories to tell and so many great actors to tell them, they don't need me. The finality of the statement has led to speculation that Joker will die in this sequel, which is supported by what we've seen.
The teaser trailer showed a sickly Joker, giving a hacking cough between his cackles. We'll have to see how Rocksteady intends to make this his final joke. Dammit, he's my Joker, just like Conroy is my Batman. Anyone got any ideas who might be tapped to replace him? Or who should be offered the role? Who do you think would make a damn fine Joker if given the chance?
Over 4 minutes of maniacal laughter from Hamill's Joker. Re: Mark Hamill quits as Joker Post by ray » Sat May 29, pm He created the voice of joker that everyone knows to bad they couldn't get heath ledger to fill in. Post by solidviewer » Tue Aug 03, pm When i think of the joker i have never thought of Heath Leger or anyone else, i have always thought of The joker from the Batman i used to watch as a kid, the guy who could make me laugh like no other Hero or Villain, but still send a chill down my spine with that same laugh.
Post by magikfISH » Wed Aug 04, am Even though he never actually played the joker in a movie, his voice alone made him the best joker of all, and i still imagine its him speaking when i read a batman comic. Post by MattJ » Wed Aug 04, pm Thats not fair, hes an amazing Joker, I grew up as a kid loving this incarnation and the animated show as awhole, but alas my dvds will have to do now.
Post by goth1k » Wed Aug 04, pm Mark Hamil will surely be missed as The Joker, he is a great actor, even though he did have some questionable roles Wing Commander series , but The Joker won't be the same without Mr Hamil behind him.
I don't much enjoy Tara Strong's voice for Harley, as much as I love her other work. I find Harley very annoying in this one, even though I thought she was fine in Arkham City and Origins.
I guess I am just getting sick of Tara Strong being in everything. Seems like they should've been able to get Arleen Sorkin back for the entire series, not just Arkham Asylum. I'm sick of seeing and hearing him. He tries way too hard to be funny and he's not in my opinion.
